WELCOME BACK TOMMY GUN.⛳🍻

Wednesday, July 10, 2013

Just joined the Dennis golfing world after 5 months of inactivity.  This upcoming trip has been a motivating factor during rehab.  I'm heading out this afternoon for my first round of the season.  All I can say is, "Fore!"

Believe Arty boy. "Nuttin" to talk about YET!⛳

Wednesday, November 14, 2012

I can't believe there have been no postings since October 13th. Has something gone awry? Though it's been five years since I journeyed along with you guys, I still return  to the blog for some info from Glenn or humorous material from Johnny .Mc or Bootsie. I would appreciate it if there was an update. Thanks

Saturday, October 13, 2012

Time to start thinking about the formats for the daily matches. Suggestions? Daily fees? Weeklong Bolshevik? Etc.

Wednesday, October 03, 2012

Hey Golf Guys,
I finally thought it would be good to get back on the blog and start getting excited about the trip.  The courses look great and we will be able to get to TBones for ribs, too!  Thanks, Glenn, for getting it all set up again this year.  Do we have any more information on the travel schedules, etc.?  I know you sent it out awhile ago but I can't find it.  Thanks!
Fore,
WWP

Here's the deal on the housing and golf for Myrtle.

We have two 4 bdrm/ 3 bath units booked at the Litchfield Beach & Golf Resort, along with 6 rounds of golf for a total of $1101.87 per person (inclusive of taxes and fees).  That price could change as all the courses I've put in for haven't published their rates yet.  In addition to golf and accomodations the package includes a daily breakfast buffet and a $20 certificate (per person) for food or alchohol at Websters (their onsite tavern).

Courses I've tentatively booked:
River Club (at Litchfield)
Heritage
World Tour
Caledonia
Pawley's
True Blue

All are close to where we are staying except for World Tour.

At the moment they're booked in the order you see above starting on Thursday and finishing on Tuesday.

We can change these selections (up to a certain point) if we decide as a group to make a substitution.  The price will change up or down depending on the course(s) we add.   For the time being I've told her to book the times between 9 and 9 :30

Thursday, November 03, 2011

Well.....Sir I do believe we will. For most, if not all, of the main formats, the ante is $20.00 to begin with.
Now as for side "junk", we can talk about that since there are only 8 of us.
I like the side stuff myself, such as your 2-man, skins, blind birdies, blind draws, whatever, etc. You tell me how much you think we should put in. However, I think that should be optional.
mr. tournament chairman are we going to have junk on the side. like skins, closest to the pin, longest drive, straightest drive, sandies, barkies,
greenies/grandslam?

FYI Gents.....Mondays format will be called Johnny's Clambake and it goes like this.

Holes 1-6, 2 best balls; holes 7-12, 3 best balls; and on holes 13-18 all 4 balls in. Maximum triple bogey.
$5/5/5....and 5 for the best individual net score.
******I have a few other twists in mind, that could be thrown into the mix, but I will sleep on those until we get to HH.

Richie.......If we all could be half as consistent as you are we would be elated. You're pretty steady. It's going to be a good week, just to get back to some warmer weather and hopefully some good golf.
No sir. You da boss. I will play whatever and smile all the way through , as I get my clock cleaned. I'm bringing plenty of cash to donate this year.
Can't wait.

Wednesday, November 02, 2011

That would be ME. The guy in the blue pants above this post. You gotta problem ChaChi?
Hey..........who's on this so-called tournament committee?

Gentlemen, Long lost Arthur here. A few weeks ago, I was visiting my girlfriend's relatives in South Carolina. Our first stop was at Hilton Head. Becky (Sarah's cousin) and Tony own a very fine Italian restaurant. Here's the site: http://www.michael-anthonys.com/ If you go there, Chris will probably seat you. Chances are that either Becky or Tony will be there. We stayed at their house, about a wedge from the 18th hole.(See photo. The dogs belong to them.) Tony is originally from Pennsylvania. They are a fairly young couple, very outgoing and pleasant. If you go there, ask if you can go upstairs to look at the kitchen Tony set up for his chef to teach classes on Italian cooking. Also every so often, chefs from the area meet at a long wooden table. In the meantime, have fun and if you go to their restaurant, convey my wonderful moments Sarah and I spent with them.

Friday, October 28, 2011

You bring the blueberries and I'll put them in the cakes.
Primed: I had the bang bang shrimp last week at a Bonefish in Chicago... Not long till we meet again.

Wednesday, October 26, 2011

Are those blueberry pancakes ? If so for two pancakes I will bring the syrup

Sunday, October 23, 2011

I agree with the lack of validity with ratings, although sometimes that's all you have to go by. I ate there twice and it was fine both times. Every restaurant puts out bad meals, I always give restaurants two chances.

On another subject I joined Carrabba's Amici club and they sent me a coupon for a free appetizer.

Saturday, October 22, 2011

So much for raters and their ratings. My meal totally suc_ed at One Hot Mamas. With lots of of other places to pick from, I won't be going back there.
Looking forward to trying the Italian places.
For lunch....Dawg makes the best turkey and ham sandwiches. Get your shopping list ready.
The hot new Italian restaurant in Hilton Head is Trattoria Divina, which I believe is near the rotary.... www.trattoriadivina.com/ .   There is a Carrabbas on the island as well.

The greasy country and western place John is refering to is One Hot Mama's and is actually rated higher than Reilly's, Bonefish Grill and the HarbourTown Grill.  While I didn't think it was as good as TBones in Myrtle Beach, it's probably about as close as you're going to come to it on HH.

Thursday, October 20, 2011

ChaChi....Some of us ate at the Harbour Town Grille that overlooks the 9th hole at Harbour Town. Another place we went to was Reilly's Steakhouse. Also, some greasy country and western place with a one way mirror in the bathroom....don't remember the name. Probably for a good reason. Frank's condo had us over for dinner. Bonefish Grille, of course. Somebody else can chime in because I don't remember the other places. But there are quite a few restaurants in the area.
Save me a spot at your house when Glenn makes pancakes for breakfast. They were the best.

Wednesday, October 19, 2011

or just................Lone Cha !
So...we have Bonefish for Bang Bang on Wednesday.
What the other restaurant line up.
Food is almost as important as the golf. Where else did you go and where do you want to go back to.
I'm hungry.
Nice...... G.

By the way, I've cooked up a new type of ChaChaCha format for Hilton Head. I don't believe we have played it before. It could be called "A Lone Ranger/ChaChaCha" with a twist. Or we could just leave the Ranger variation off.
Funny you should mention Bonefish Grill.  I just obtained three of their $25 gift cards for us with the points I got on the credit card I charged the houses with.

Tuesday, October 18, 2011

Don't know about the beef(u-pic-it), but we're headed to Bonefish on Weds.
Where's the beef?

Saturday, October 15, 2011

Thanks Glenn. WOW!!! They look nice.
The placemarks show the original two homes I booked. We still have 91 Mooring Buoy Dr, but 95 has been replaced with 72 Mooring Buoy Dr, just a couple of blocks away.
Click on the photo for a larger view.
These are the two homes we'll be staying in.
72 and 91 Mooring Buoy Drive in Palmetto Dunes

Friday, October 14, 2011

are we staying in homes or condos?

This is a 4 bedroom condo at Palmetto Dunes, whether or not this where we are staying your guess is good as good as mine. Haven't talk to tour director to see if we have been assigned specific condo's.

The inside of the condo looks very nice. Comes with a pool (unheated).
Good question John? There are different named villa's/condo's?

Thursday, October 13, 2011

Glad to see you're feeling better Boots.

What's the address or the name of the place we are staying at?
Jacksonville!

Do you know how much candy we are getting for Halloween from Rich?
This is not final, but you will get a rough idea.

I agree. good call , Glenn. Everything looks great. Can't wait. I may even have to learn how to smoke a cigar......
Find below the updated course play:

Tues. Nov. 8th TBD Bear Creek Golf Club in Hilton Head Plantation
Wed. Nov. 9th 8:32/8:40 AM Robert Trent Jones Course in Palmetto Dunes Resort
Thurs. Nov. 10th 10:00/10:10 AM Haig Point Club – taking the 8:30 AM Ferry
Fri. Nov. 11th 9:45/9:54 AM *Harbour Town Golf Links in Sea Pines Resort
Sat. Nov. 12th 8:00/8:10 AM Club at Savannah Harbor – Westin Resort, Savannah GA

As I discussed with a few of you the other day,  we have to put our trust in our Hilton Head contact (Jim Crick) as far as selecting courses we'll enjoy and that fit our budget.  This guy came highly recommended (pro shop managers, chamber of commerce, etc).  Obviously he has no control over changing conditions and can only recommend those courses that are currently in good condition.  He was forthcoming about the Palmetto courses and the chances that we would have a cart path only situation, which is why we switched to the new courses above.  Jim has played all the courses in Hilton Head so has a pretty good idea what would fit our particular needs.  I think at this point we have a pretty good mix of courses we already know and new courses we haven't played.  If something drastic happens to any of the courses above, Jim will do his best to switch us to a better situation.

Sunday, October 02, 2011

Me thinks Port Royal and Oyster Reef look pretty pretty good.

Friday, September 30, 2011

i say dump the two palmetto courses keep the jones course.would try old south and oyster reef.

Thursday, September 29, 2011

Over-seeding and cart path only. :(..........What that means is schlepping 3-4 clubs from the cart out to your ball along with your GPS or Laser for every shot just like we did at Scottsdale. We didn't play the Trent Jones course last year....it was in terrible shape, especially the greens. Hopefully it has improved this year. Dump all three Palmetto courses and book 3 more rounds at Harbour Town. A lot more money but worth it ;)
Seriously...Pictures of Old South look good. What about about Port Royal, Palmetto Hall, Shipyard, Oyster Reef. Even Heron Point at Sea Pines wasn't too bad. We got spoiled with the 2 we played at Palmetto(Hills and Fazio).
My 2 cents on the Palmetto course issue................I agree with your thoughts.....keep the Jones course and go with 2 other recommendations,................... if reasonably priced .....................and we get a little later tee times for the travel to them. My first choice.
But..second choice would be to keep 2 Palmetto courses, Jones and one other....don't really mind cart path only 1 day.............then only have to select 1 new course.
Got this email from the contact I'm working with in Hilton Head.  I'm waiting to hear if there's an additional cost if we switch.  I'm assuming there isn't.  Thoughts?

"It looks like at this time they will be over seeding all 3 courses October 24 – 28, 2011 and all 3 courses will be cart path only for a couple of weeks after. So although the courses will most likely be in fine shape they will still be cart path only for the time you are here.

One alternative we could do is too keep the Robert Trent Jones Course on the 9th. That is the premium course in Palmetto Dunes with the signature 10th hole leading out to the ocean and one of the public’s favorites. And with a little luck it may not be cart path only. I can also recommend Old South Golf Links, a course that was designed by Clyde Johnston, a local architect who has designed many courses in the Carolinas, and Bear Creek Golf Club, a private golf club in Hilton Head Plantation. Both will be in great shape at the time you will be here."

Tuesday, September 27, 2011

Cosmo..............good job on the games. On the blind draw quota stuff.......when I have 8 players at OBF, I do 2 man blind draw teams. Throw in $10 per man for that, then $5 for skins, for a total $15 day. Pay first place at $50 per team and a second place finish at $30 per team. Spreads around the winnings a little.
Enjoyed the Sunday get-together boys...and the libations at Rod's Country Bunker. Thanks to Rod and Peg, again...............Looking forward to 7 days of the same come November.
Now............back to manufacturing some 80 scores to get that November Handicap Bump...........

Monday, September 26, 2011

Cosmo I forgot about the gross and net and gross prevails, that would be better than the Ryder Cup format.

Sunday, September 25, 2011

Day 1. 2ball
Day 2 Johnny's Clambake
Day 3. ChaChaCha or Red White and Blue
Day 4. The 4 A's play together as do the 4 B's. Create your own match. Blind draw 2 or 4 man teams (probably quota) when done.
Day 5 Lone Ranger
Day 6 1 best ball gross/1 best ball net front. 1 best ball gross/ 2 best ball net back. Gross prevails.
Day 7 Quota....Condo vs. Condo

Friday, September 23, 2011

Pedastal..pedistal. Try pedestal, per the spelling police

Thursday, September 22, 2011

Mom says...........grow a pair. She was always tough on me.
And............what's with the wine. You're a madras man and don't forget it. And............get back on your meds. I remember you as a happy drunk.
Rod.............I appreciate your memories of me.....it's been quite awhile. But...I'm a hack like everyone. The handicap is skewed by the Fairgrounds. At Dennis..............I'd be a 7. I can't play with the big boys, but I do like being up on the pedistal you guys have me on..............and that Johnny keeps knocking me off.
Glenn...............Call me when you find out about Sunday.
And...thanks for the course line up info. I need stuff to dwell over for 2 months.
Do we call you Grampy now?
Looks good. Same as last year except for the Trent Jones course.
Oooooooh thats an early wake up call for the drive to Savannah Hbrs and the 0800 tee time on Sat.
Hope we have the same weather we had last year.

Any preferences on which games to play at certain courses?
Harbour Town, again, will be the most difficult.
Hey Rich

I was dissapointed not seeing you in the fourball? Why would you want to find a 10 handicap to play with us minions? A golfer of your stature should be playing in the "A" division. Most teams have a combined handicap of 5-10. Don't take yourself off the pedastal.

Looking forward to playing with you in Hilton Head and watching those laser beams you hit.
How's this for timing Rich:

Sun. Nov. 6th 9:00/9:07 AM Hilton Head National Golf Club

Mon. Nov. 7th 8:32//8:40 AM Fazio Course at Palmetto Dunes Resort

Tues. Nov. 8th 8:32/8:40 AM Arthur Hills Course in Palmetto Dunes Resort

Wed. Nov. 9th 8:32/8:40 AM Robert Trent Jones Course in Palmetto Dunes Resort

Thurs. Nov. 10th 10:00/10:10 AM Haig Point Club – taking the 8:30 AM Ferry

Fri. Nov. 11th 9:45/9:54 AM *Harbour Town Golf Links in Sea Pines Resort

Sat. Nov. 12th 8:00/8:10 AM Club at Savannah Harbor – Westin Resort, Savannah GA

Wednesday, September 21, 2011

First to Bob...Wylie is next to the good looking guy in the white shirt.

To Rich...are you trying to put pressure on me!  Don't you realize what I'm dealing with every day even though I'm semi-retired!    You're concerned with some f'n tee times on some stupid ass courses 2 months from now, like it'll make a difference in our lives. (I've had a couple glasses of wine).

Anyway,  our contact in Hilton Head is booking the tee times this week and should be contacting me on the times any day now.

I also booked Kon Limo for our ride to and from Logan for $80 for the round trip.  Mike had suggested Pro Limo which I checked out but found little difference between the two price wise.  The DD bus is still an option.

I'll have to pay for our golf package in a couple of weeks.  I'll let you know your balance then.

I also put in a request for two tee times for this Sunday at 1 pm.  Hopefully we'll get them.  If not, we'll pick up two unclaimed tee times.

Back to Rich....you got a problem with me...call mom.....
Any news on the course lineup and times? Where we playing....officially? I remember a concern with maintanence at The Palmetto course...punching greens. Any news?

Tuesday, September 20, 2011

Where's Wylie??? He's in between Glenn and Matt.

Monday, September 19, 2011

The picture of all us at Hilton Head last year, wears Wylie?
glen, i used pro limo they were the cheapiest of all limos. i called them 225.00 each way. no charge to pick up at burger king for rich and me.you might want to call them.$67.50each with tip.they were very good.they also have a bigger bus for $275.00each way.

Sunday, September 18, 2011

the Kon limo option sounds good. Convenience...............
$80 total is fine. Important to have a ride there when we get in late on the return trip. I like having someone drive us. We can coordinate picking up Mike and I somewhere up here, later.
I vote for Kon.

Saturday, September 17, 2011

The extra stop would be to pick up Mike and Rich at exit 6. Also the cost per person obviously would go up by $10 for every person who doesn't use the service.

Friday, September 16, 2011

My $.02 worth. Go with Kon. Book the limo service. After the flight home the last thing I want to do is to have to drive back to the Cape.
? What is the extra stop and fee?
Since there's only 8 of us this year, transportation to Logan is an issue.  I contacted Kon Limousine and the cost for a van big enough for us and our luggage would be $40 per person each way.  That includes tip, trailer for the luggage, and a fee for an additional stop.

Driving ourselves up is an option.  I think the least you can pay for parking at Logan would be about $120 per car.  Add in gas and the total cost per person would be about $40 round trip vs $80 for Kon.
Personally the extra $40 would be worth it.  Not to mention my pickup can't handle 4 people.

I'll check with my brother on the availability of the Dream Day bus.  The only problem with taking the DD Bus (or driving ourselves) is the back-up situation.  If it breaks down on the way up we'd have no back up.  With Kon or any other limo service a back up is always on call.

Thoughts?

Thursday, September 15, 2011

Pops..............It was Monday and Tuesday. And....thanks. Brother Mike gave me a scare until a late fade. He finished 3rd gross.
Dennis 4 ball...................I need a sandbagging 10 handicap. Know anyone?
Look forward to seeing you guys on the 25th.....for a pre-HH get reacquainted round.
Hey...when was that? Way to go Gramps. Congrats.
Let it WHIP!

PS: You should be playing in the Dennis Four-Ball.

Wednesday, September 14, 2011

congrats to rich g. senior club champ "gross "50-59 age division way to go!

Saturday, September 10, 2011

Right.....the lst pic is hole #11 and the last pic is hole # 12.

Friday, September 09, 2011

yhe last pic is #12?
is it hole #11?

Guess again. No it's not Hole #1.

While you all are thinking of what hole pic 1 might be, here is a picture of another hole that just might give it away. You can click on the pictures to make them bigger.

Maybe another view of the lst pic will jog your memories.
the first pic is hole #1 i think. our condo is on the right.
Whack and Hack. Tell me if I am wrong, but with that game you take the lowest and highest of the 4 scores each team makes per hole. For example 4,5,6,7 are made and you take the 4 and 7 for a team score of 11. **Unless there is a birdie, then you take the birdie and the next best lowerst score. Ex. 3(which is a birdie),5,6,7. Your team score is 8. That's 3 less points. The premium is on making birdies.
You and Rich are the only ones who have played that, so we'll run that by the rest of the group for an opinion.

14 is correct for the 2nd pic but what about the 1st one?

Now we're getting into some serious BLOGGING going. DAWG where are you?
i also went into the the drink on 14. what about "whack and hack"?

Thursday, September 08, 2011

Rod you are correct....the 2nd pic is Hole #14.
Any guesses on the 1st pic?

Boots....you have a ? above Condo golf. What's the question.

More pics to come.
Looks like # 14 to me Cap! At first I thought it was 4, but the green was accessible from the right on that hole. Pretty sure I dumped it in the water on 14.
Hole # 2 is incorrect Boots.
Sorry.
Keep guessing.
Anyone else?
I can't remember the hole numbers -- but I loved that course and can't wait to play it again!!!
I'm back in, thank you ! I believe the second picture is hole #2.
Games:
2-ball Gross
2-ball net
Red, White, and Blue or Cha, Cha Cha, Cha Cha Cha
Quota , individual, team and 2-man
Lone Ranger
?
Condo Golf

How about this one....Glenn, you and I are excused. Everyone in our 4-some found the water!!

Games....We've got games my friend. How about 2-ball gross; Red, White and Blue; 2 man or 4 man Quota; Condo vs. Condo; Best 1 ball gross and Best 1 ball net; and let us not forget the "Lone Ranger". Plus the side junk like skins; "Get your 2-man here"; etc.
Haven't figured out which courses go with which format yet, but since there are only 8 of us, we can hash it out.
Should be fun.
Guess which Harbour Town hole this is.(Rich you haven't been so we'll give you a bye" on this one.

Wednesday, September 07, 2011

I'm back in. Had trouble but got the re-set from the GRO.
2 months to go. Can't wait. 1st round after the first days golf is on me.
Miss you guys. Looking forward to a pre-trip round on the 25th.
John...............my arch Nemesis.............what games have you got planned.

How did Hilton make out with Irene?

Friday, June 24, 2011

It's almost July and the blog is pretty quiet. Johnny "Cosmo" McManus has games he would like play this year, but is open for suggestions. We are staying at Palmetto Dunes w/4 bedrooms condos and they look great w/access to a pool and maybe a hot tub (?).

I'm going to book the Hilton Head trip next week. So far I only have 2 foursomes committed, mine and the McManus foursome. I need to know who's going. It's up to you to put together your foursome. I'll help where I can, but ultimately it's up to you to find the people you want to room with. Please let me know as soon as you can. I'll probably book Wed or Thu. Thanks

Date of trip: 11/5/11 to 11/12/11

Wednesday, February 16, 2011

I really enjoyed playing the courses last Nov. in Hilton Head. I loved playing Harbor Town! I do like the Ryder Cup but remain open to variables. All the games are fun! Just playing golf all those days in a row with you guys is ... fantastic.

Monday, February 14, 2011

Gramps must be talking about the late Walter King ?

Sunday, February 13, 2011

I think I just got slapped with a glove.
Cosmo.............I accept your challenge.
And you can bring that stooge of yours......Bob McSlash along for laughs.

(really...next to King, you're my toughest)

No Ryder Cup...is fine with me too. More other games.
Right now Cotuit Highgrounds looks good. November 5th the last day of day light savings, get a round in at Savannah Harbor and a steak at Sam Snead's. Harbour Towne Links one my favorite courses. Richie, I know you are good, but Cosmo would owned you last year w/o candy.

Friday, February 11, 2011

Like I told Glenn, Hilton Head is fine with me. Harbour Town is too. I enjoyed all the courses we played last year, especially Haig Point.
As for getting strokes from you Rich.....I would have "smoked" you last year. Anyway you will probably be playing Matt or Mike instead of me if we play Ryder Cup.
My suggestion is to skip the Ryder Cup format anyway and figure in some other matches. Last year was a rout and we pretty much play with the same guys over and over. I'm for skipping that and playing more 2 ball, RED , WHITE AND BLUE, other formats, etc. Just my $ .02 worth.
But I'm in for Hilton Head.
Glenn,
Thanks for the early post. Great reading about the trip in the middle of winter. Helps us get thru the till the season starts. Whatever you book for courses is fine with me. I'm psyched to go again this year. You gents played last year and have the knowledge.............although..... I would love to play Harbor Town , a PGA Tour stop......if I went all the way to Hilton Head.
But again...I'm with the group vote. It sounded like such a great trip last year...I wish I was there, but the consolation courses on Maui and Kauai made up for my disappointment (Kapalua Plantation probably the most spectacualar I've ever played).
So................Capt. Guild is in. Now if I can figure out how NOT to giving Johnny Mac all those shots.......................
Hilton Head is fine with me,I'll go anywhere.Hope all is well with the group, spring can't get here quick enough.
As I told Mac a couple of days ago, Alabama Shores is out at a destination this year. Kiva Dunes will be overseeding about the same time that we would be going. That means cart paths only and the possibility of a sloppy tract.

Early comments favor going back to Hilton Head. Those in favor so far are Mac, John, Rich G and myself. Please weigh in if you're blog literate or email me if you are not. Or better yet stop in to Olivers and let me know.

Many of us have vouchers from last year's extended trip and we need to use those before the 18th of Nov.. I'm tentatively scheduling the trip for 11/5/11 to 11/12/11, that's Sat to Sat (no rush hour). Let me know if it's a problem for you and we'll try to work around it if possible.

If we do go to HH I'll need input on what courses you would like to play and any that you definitely don't want to revisit. Personally I could skip Harbour Town this year but would like to go back to Haig Point. Obviously I'll book whatever the majority wants.

I've also contacted Group Sales at Palmetto Dunes and we can get 7 nights of villa accommodations and play three rounds of golf at their 3 courses for $607. If we proceed with HH and Palmetto Dunes, I'll then contact the other golf courses that the group has chosen and book those separately. FYI: Harbour Town is $250 plus forecaddie and Haig Point is $175 including ferry ride. Most of the other courses should be under $100.

Hope everyone is weathering this nasty winter and I'll look forward to seeing you all on the green fairways of Dennis soon.

Wylie: sorry, no PB this year.

Sunday, February 06, 2011

Hi Bob. What's up is your status on the list -- way up! I should give you the $ now so you can invest it in the market. Enjoy the Super Bowl. I'm going to go to Olivers for the first half -- anyone want to come, too?

Tuesday, February 01, 2011

Tired of this snow yet? The only good news is that dow closed over 12,000 today. So what's up?

Rod, Mike, Glenn , Tom and Matt

Hey Dave "what is the secret on beating those gators"?

Dave, Frank, Rocket
Glenn, Hilton Head courses were the best by far we have ever played including the Savannah Harbor Course "where if can't hit the fairway's there " well enough said. Great trip! Good people, and a lot of fun. I'll give the trip an A+. Thanks Glenn, Rod and Frank for making the trip so successful.

Serenity Now!

How could the Gators lose with this guy looking out for us?
Ditto! Thanks Glenn -- lots of work for us to get it all together!
Thanks Rod and Boots -- for the games and accounting!
Congrats to the 'Gators -- we Coyotes got chomped on.
Thanks to Frank (and his condo crew) -- excellent dinner(s) and fellowship.
I loved the courses and the new place.
Thanks Glenn for a fantastic trip! All the courses were great and it was fun going someplace new.

Sunday, November 07, 2010

Sleep well all. See you tomorrow.

Friday, November 05, 2010

I want $100 on the Gators! Pure money! A Zenyatta moment! Sorry, Coyotes, but you picked the wrong name! Killer Whales! or Orcas! Land animals can't handle amphibians as stealthy as Gators. Safe trip, fun time, and happy return.

Thursday, November 04, 2010

Don't forget your drivers license or whatever document that matches the name you gave me for your airline ticket. You will need it to board the aircraft.

Bob that photo you posted is the 13th at Harbor Town. I'll put a GB on it.

The extended weather forecast looks perfect....70's and sunshine!

Bus is scheduled to leave Olivers at 5:30 am. John Kade recommeneded we leave that early because of the morning rush hour. We'll be stopping at exit 6 to pick up Matt and Mike.

Better to be early than the alternative.

Cost will be 20 to 25 per man each way depending how many are on the bus. Right now it looks like we'll have 13 or 14 traveling to Logan.

I can make a pot of coffee at Olivers but you'll have to bring your own cup.
Free for Gators, $5 for mangy coyotes.

Go Gators!

Supposed to be lotsa 'Gators on Hilton Head. We be the Gators. Gators dine on everything including coyotes and bobcats.
Looking at the new HCPS we've got some tight matches coming up.
Bobcats are an indigenous species to South Carolina.
Now that is one good looking coyote. Looks well fed. Most of the ones I've seen are scragly pieces of s__t.

The Whit. He was a great guy, loved to party and wore the coolest pants. He is missed.
The late great Bob Whitney also had his record round that day.
Hey G..... Speaking of LUNCH. You, Lizotte, Haskell and the rest of that bunch bought our lunch that day with the winnings we took off that group. Rod had his record round that day.
Rod, I gotta say it's takes some big stones to post that picture....just glad I haven't had my lunch yet.

Friday, October 29, 2010

Oh yeah. Now that is a real classic. For those that don't know....that is the "IMMACULATE FOURSOME" in Myrtle Beach.
Way to go Cap!!

These dudes are ready for Hilton Head!

Tuesday, October 26, 2010

I don't want to get "banned"..........so I'm blogging in.....even though I won't be with you gents this year. Sounds like a great trip...new adventures. My vote would be for singles. I always loved giving 5 shots to Johnny Mac and getting my ego handed to me every year. Enjoy.
Thanks for the pic of the course, Bob. I'm planning on a lot of chubbers on that hole.

Monday, October 25, 2010

Savannah Harbor
The above course is a tour stop for the Seniors. We are playing there the last day.

According to my sources I heard there maybe some type of penalty or fine if you don't contribute to the blog, so to be on safe side start now if haven't blogged yet , get off your duff. Don't ask Joe Barrett for help he has been trying for 6 years and still hasn't figured it out. We like to know what you are thinking.

Hmmmmmm:) Bang-Bang Bonefish ... just a couple of weeks away.

Saturday, October 23, 2010

A: Final Answer
The poll is only a suggestion. Either way it will not not change the Rod's format of play. Just food for thought. My gut feeling we go as we have been.

Friday, October 22, 2010

Take a Poll;
How do select the Ryder Cup Teams?
A. Like have the last few years as is.
B. Have A Players pick the teams
C. Draw cards A, B, C, D
D. Other suggestion

Wednesday, October 20, 2010

I like the variety of these "games," too.

Tuesday, October 19, 2010

I'm looking forward to an order of BangBang @ Bonefish.

Monday, October 18, 2010

Here are a few other places to consider:
Wild Wings (Tuesday 2 for 1 special)
Red Fish
The Oyster Factory (excellant)
King Fisher (Super happy hour)
Salty Dog
Marley's
Bonefish
British Pub

Sunday, October 17, 2010

I've heard good things about happy hour at the Oyster Factory

http://www.oldoysterfactory.com/

Friday, October 15, 2010

As it stands the McManus brothers would be on the same team -- should be interesting :) I don't know if it's more fun to see them on the same team or against each other. Great guys - Great brothers - Great golfers.
New handicap revision is out. Time for captions to start picking team names. One more revision left.

A. Dupuy -5.6
B. M. McManus - 5.9
C. J. McManus - 7.2
D. Rooney - 7.9

E. Ormon - 7.9
F. Shaw - 8.1
G. Sherman - 8.6
H. Nelson - 10.5

I. Nones - 11.3
J. McPherson - 11.4
K. Stella - 11.8
L. Kade - 12.3

M. Perry - 15.7
N. Connelly - 16.4
O. Dean - 18.9
P. Hurley - 20.0

If it snows tomorow and doesn't thaw until we leave these are the teams, but we know that won't happen. Still very tight, should be fun.
I guess you didn't get the memo Cap!

Thursday, October 14, 2010

What's all this "I am a man" stuff. Did someone doubt you were?

Wednesday, October 13, 2010

Hey, I like the singles and that Bob is a man, too.
I am a man. I will be on the bus. I will play in the single match play event.

Monday, October 11, 2010

I vote for singles, probably the most exciting and intense day of the week.

I've booked the bus to take us to Logan. I need to know if we have enough people going to make it affordable. Please let me know if you're planning on going on the bus.
I'm with you Cap but others wanted to eliminate some Ryder Cup matches. Bloggers lets us hear from you. We could eliminate either 2 ball gross and net or Red, White and Blue and replace with Singles Ryder Cup but only if that is the wish of the majority. If you don't voice your opinion then don't complain about the format.
Everything looks great EXCEPT for one thing......where are the Ryder Cup SINGLES matches.
It's tradition...............and ya can't break tradition..

Friday, October 08, 2010

Excellent. Love the variety of the games! Thanks Rocket

Thursday, September 23, 2010

We're getting close to our trip to Hilton Head on Nov 8th. I need to pay the balance of our trip by Oct 8th so I'll need your final payments within the next couple of weeks, preferably before the 8th.

Those flying with the group owe $1349.
Those who have booked their own flight owe $1064.
That will complete payment for the flights, lodging , taxes, golf and golf carts. Additional monies will be needed for eating, drinking, wagering, airline luggage fees and a $25 forecaddie fee at Harbour Town.

As mentioned earlier, each foursome is booking their own rental car. I know 3 of the groups have already done so.

Please email me if you have any questions.

Monday, August 09, 2010

Thanks Glenn for the blog site. I can get in again............
Would love to take the 16th spot if I hit the megabucks this week and give my notice. Looks like a great trip...new courses to explore.
Enjoy...........

Friday, August 06, 2010

Now that John Egan has unfortunately cancelled, we need a replacement. I've emailed Matt about possibly finding someone on his end since we seem to be having a problem finding someone from our club. If Matt does come up with a player we can rearrange the rooming situation to accommodate the change.

We will need car rentals for this trip. I recommend each foursome get their own rental. I haven't found a multiple rental discount program. If anyone knows of a rental program that does, please let me know.

Wednesday, August 04, 2010

No Ryder Cup with 15 guys.
Need 1 more.
:(

As far as the tournament schedule goes...I defer to Rod and Boots.

I do have some ideas though. They know I will share them with them. Start saving some cash now.
Hello fellow golfers: Six more handicap revisions and around 12 weeks, then it's Peter , Paul and Mary "off on a jet plane ". Sorry to hear John Eagan had to drop out. I assume Director Ormon or Roonman are looking for a replacement. John McManus is working on an exciting tournament schedule.
